A experiential museum full of “mind-bending illusions and interactive exhibits” will set up shop in Boston, opening to the public later this year.

The “Museum of Illusions” belongs to a chain of museums worldwide numbering more than 45 in total, with this new museum slated to be the first in New England and among one of the chain’s largest, Museum of Illusions announced in a press release on Wednesday.

The new permanent museum location will be at Marketplace Center at 200 State St., just off the Rose Kennedy Greenway and near the city’s famed Faneuil Hall, according to Museum of Illusions.

The museum said it aims to “entertain, educate and inspire visitors by offering a deeper understanding of the complexities of human perception.”

Once inside, the museum added guests will “explore the mysteries of vision, the science of perception, and the power of the human brain in a playful and interactive environment.”

According to the Museum of Illusions, the museum will also offer “Instagrammable exhibits” along with immersive rooms and educational entertainment for those of all ages.

The museum’s Facebook page indicates that there will be more than 60 illusions which will “trick your senses and challenge your brain.”

The new museum is set to open at a currently unspecified date in late 2024, according to Museum of Illusions.

“This highly visible location with millions of annual visitors promises an incredible opportunity,” Rob Cooper, the CEO of LOL Entertainment — the parent company of Museum of Illusions Boston — said in a statement.

“We are excited to serve the greater Boston area by offering captivating illusions that transcend age, creating unforgettable memories in this rich and storied setting,” Cooper added.

The first Museum of Illusions opened in Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia, in 2015, according to the museum. It has described itself as the “fastest-growing” such chain in the world.

The museum’s website indicated that Museum of Illusions are currently open in 25 countries on four continents — with 23 other locations opened in or planned for cities in the U.S. and Canada.
