Your eyes aren’t deceiving you (or are they?) — a new “mind-bending” museum is coming to Boston.
The Museum of Illusions will open a new location in Marketplace Center, adjacent to the Rose Kennedy Greenway and Faneuil Hall Marketplace. The new museum will be the first in New England and one of the largest of the chain’s dozens of worldwide locations, the museum announced in a recent press release.
“This highly visible location with millions of annual visitors promises an incredible opportunity, making it the perfect canvass for our experiential and educational museum,” Rob Cooper, CEO of parent company LOL Entertainment, said in a statement.
The Boston location is scheduled to open in late 2024, though the official opening date has not been revealed, according to the museum.
According to the press release, the Museum of Illusions provides visitors with the opportunity to “explore the mysteries of vision, the science of perception, and the power of the human brain in a playful and interactive environment.”
The museum said that visitors will be offered “a deeper understanding of the complexities of human perception” through age-friendly educational entertainment, immersive rooms, and “Instagrammable exhibits.”
The Museum of Illusions claims to be the world’s fastest-growing chain of museums. Boston is just one of the 24 new locations around the world set to open soon.
“We are excited to serve the greater Boston area by offering captivating illusions that transcend age, creating unforgettable memories in this rich and storied setting,” Cooper said in his statement.
